At a glance
The short version.
You choose how much to share in your enquiry. We speak before any detailed information is requested.
Therapy involves health information. I ask for explicit consent before collecting it and handle it with extra care.

Who this covers
Stephen Therapy and the people it works with.
Stephen Therapy is the trading name of Stephen Stanton, a Clinical Hypnotherapist and RTT Practitioner based at 79 Parsonage Street, Heaton Norris, Stockport, SK4 1HY. I am the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.
The policy applies to visitors to this website, people who send an enquiry, people who take part in an initial telephone conversation and clients who receive hypnotherapy, RTT, career coaching, interview preparation or mentoring.
What I collect
Only what the work needs.
Website visitors
The website does not collect information about how you browse it. There are no analytics or tracking cookies. The hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes your device’s IP address in order to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse; I do not see or keep this. Details of the optional services that can set cookies are in the Cookie Policy.
Website enquiry form
Name, telephone number, email address, the area you would like help with, when it is convenient to call and a brief description of what has been happening. The form is delivered to my inbox by Web3Forms, a form-handling service. I ask you not to include detailed medical information at this stage.
Initial telephone conversation
Brief notes about the reason you contacted me, what you would like help with and whether working together appears appropriate. If we decide not to continue, only minimal notes are retained, for a short period.
Intake form and therapy sessions
Personal details, relevant health and wellbeing information, medication and lifestyle details relevant to the work, and session notes. Because this includes special category data, I explain what I collect and ask for your explicit consent before we begin.
Personalised recordings
Your recording is created from what we discuss and may contain sensitive content. It is provided to you securely and stored for a limited period so that it can be resent if needed.
Career support
Employment history, CVs, career goals and interview preparation notes where you ask for career coaching or mentoring. I do not need health information for this unless you choose to share something that is relevant.
How I use information
Clear purposes, no surprises.
- Responding to your enquiry and arranging our initial telephone conversation.
- Understanding what you want help with before we meet, so the session is prepared and personal.
- Delivering hypnotherapy, RTT, career coaching, interview preparation or mentoring safely.
- Creating and delivering your personalised recording and providing follow-up check-ins.
- Keeping accurate professional records required by my accrediting bodies and insurer.
- Managing appointments, deposits and payments, and keeping the website secure and working properly.
I do not use client information for marketing, I do not sell it and I do not share it with third parties for their own purposes.
Lawful basis
Why I am allowed to use your information.

Legal obligation
To keep records required by professional bodies, insurers and applicable law, including safeguarding obligations.
